ARKEN TARGETLOCK TL3000: A $599.99 Weapon-Mounted Ballistic Rangefinder That Changes the Math

On October 23, ARKEN introduces the TARGETLOCK TL3000, a weapon-mounted ballistic laser rangefinder that combines ranging out to 3,000 yards, the DNT Ballistic Engine, and Kestrel® compatibility in a compact, rail-mounted design.

Built for competitive shooters, long-range hunters, and precision shooting enthusiasts, the TL3000 brings ranging and ballistic calculations together in one weapon-mounted system. At $599.99 with code ARKEN, it makes weapon-mounted laser rangefinder (WMLRF) technology more accessible.

Compact Weapon-Mounted Rangefinder, Built for Fast Operation

Measuring 3.6×2.3×1.4 in (92×59×35 mm) and weighing 7.5 oz (213 g), the TL3000 packs ranging and ballistic capabilities into a compact, CNC-machined aluminum housing. Its Picatinny mounting interface integrates the unit into compatible rifle setups while keeping its footprint small.

The included wired pressure switch allows users to activate the rangefinder without changing their grip or shooting position. A co-aligned 515 nm green visible laser helps indicate the point of aim during setup and zeroing.

An onboard gyroscope automatically adjusts the display orientation and measures incline angle for ballistic calculations. Tactile controls support operation in demanding conditions, while the OLED display with an anti-reflection coating helps keep readings visible in bright light.

With an IP67 protection rating and an operating temperature range of −4°F to 122°F (−20°C to +50°C), the TL3000 is designed for use across a range of outdoor environments.

One Press, One Firing Solution: Ballistic Ranging to 3,000 Yards

The TL3000 combines laser ranging with the DNT Ballistic Engine to streamline the process of obtaining a firing solution. Single-pulse and continuous ranging modes accommodate different ranging needs, while Line of Sight (LOS) and Horizontal Component Distance (HCD) provide two options for distance input.

The unit displays ballistic corrections in MRAD, MOA, clicks, centimeters, or inches, allowing users to work with their preferred adjustment units.

Maximum ranging distance varies by target type:

  • Reflective targets: Up to 3,000 yards

  • Tree trunks: Up to 2,000 yards

  • Deer: Up to 1,100 yards

Ranging accuracy is specified at ±1 yard within 2,000 yards, with a resolution of 0.1 yard.

The LOS mode uses line-of-sight distance and incline information in the ballistic calculation. HCD provides the horizontal component of the measured distance to account for the effect of angle on distance. The appropriate mode depends on the shooter's setup and intended application.

Testing showed a high level of consistency between DNT and Applied Ballistics (AB) ballistic calculations across 100–1,000 yards. The comparison used the DNT and AB Quantum (Elite) apps with a 5.56 rifle and AAC 77gr OTM ammunition. Results are specific to the rifle, ammunition, distances, and test conditions used.

10 Onboard Ballistic Profiles + 6,000+ Profiles via DNT App: Switch Setups in Seconds

Different rifles and ammunition combinations require different ballistic inputs. The TL3000 stores up to 10 independent ballistic profiles, designated Slots A–J, allowing users to maintain separate configurations for multiple setups.

The DNT App for iOS and Android lets users build custom ballistic profiles using its library of 6,000+ Ammo Profiles. With one tap, users can sync a selected profile to the TL3000. The device stores up to 10 onboard ballistic profiles in Slots A–J, making it easy to switch between rifle and ammunition setups. Users can configure inputs such as zero distance, muzzle velocity, bullet weight, and ballistic coefficient.

Over-the-air (OTA) updates allow the device software to be updated as supported updates become available. Using accurate rifle, ammunition, and muzzle-velocity data is important for obtaining useful ballistic solutions.

Wind and Weather Integration for Ballistic Calculations

The TL3000’s MET module supports wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure inputs for ballistic calculations.

Connect a compatible Bluetooth-enabled Kestrel® weather or ballistic meter to send real-time environmental data directly to the TL3000 and its onboard DNT Ballistic Engine. Users can also enter wind and atmospheric data manually when a compatible sensor is not available.

With ranging, environmental inputs, and ballistic calculations handled through the weapon-mounted unit, shooters can get a firing solution without moving between a handheld rangefinder, a weather meter, a ballistic app, and the scope to dial. Key information and controls stay on the TL3000, helping users maintain their cheek weld while operating the system.

When compatible environmental data is available, the ballistic calculation can account for those inputs alongside range and the selected ballistic profile. This brings key ranging and environmental information into one system without requiring a separate handheld rangefinder for distance measurement.
